São Paulo – The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Dubai Chamber) is bringing business executives from the emirate to Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina from April 15 to 22. In addition to Dubai Chamber executives, also travelling will be investors and delegates from an array of industries, including general trade, retail, free zones, processed foods, and logistics. The delegation will comprise executives from companies including Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons (high-end watches), Empower (energy), DMCC (commodities) and Dubai South (free zone).

The Arab executives will have their first appointment in São Paulo on Monday (17). They will meet with mayor João Doria (of the party PSDB). Next, the Dubai Chamber delegation will have lunch with delegates from the Brazilian Export and Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp).

In the afternoon, the delegation will be welcomed by São Paulo State vice governor Márcio França at government seat Palácio dos Bandeirantes. The Dubai Chamber staff will also host a ceremony to announce the opening of its São Paulo branch.

The last appointment of the day will be a reception arranged in partnership with the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce where the delegation will be in touch with local businessmen from different industries. The event will be for guests only.

“This mission comes as an achievement stemming from the Global Business Forum on Latin America , which was launched by the Dubai Chamber last year as a key platform for dialogue and economic cooperation among business partners in the UAE and in Latin America,” Dubai Chamber president and CEO Hamad Buamim said in a statement.

“This shows the importance they are imparting to the Brazilian market and to Latin America,” Arab Brazilian Chamber president Rubens Hannun said of the trip to Brazil. “Their mission is a continuation not only of the forum, but also of our trips to the UAE. We were there in February and this subject (the trip) was discussed in Dubai. The mission further cements integration with Latin America, and especially so with Brazil,” he pointed out.

Hannun believes that the fact that trips and meetings of Brazilian and Emirati businesspersons are happening at shorter time intervals “strengthens and boosts business even further.”“This is the continuity whose need we always stress. It’s a very good initiative. They grow acculturated to Brazil and Brazil grows acculturated to the UAE. This is a very positive thing, and a great opportunity for enhancing these relations,” he asserted.

For Arab Brazilian Chamber CEO Michel Alaby, the trip to Brazil shows that Dubai executives “regard Brazil as a safe haven and a reliable partner.” It is important that they come and witness Brazil’s power,” he said. According to Buamim, the trip to Latin America will also help his organization with preparations for the second edition of the Forum on the region, which is slated for early 2018.
